Phase 1 of the $1.3 billion Techo International Airport (TIA) project is over 92% complete and is expected to open in July 2025. Originally slated for completion in 2024, the timeline has shifted, with key facilities like the passenger terminal, power distribution center, and aircraft apron scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
The aviation sector in Cambodia is expected to experience significant growth once becomes operational. The modern facility is designed to accommodate large aircrafts, featuring international-standard passenger terminals and cargo warehouses.
The airport, located 19 km from Phnom Penh, employs around 15,000 workers, with more than 90% being Cambodian nationals. Spanning 2,600 hectares, TIA is being built in three phases. Phase 1 includes a 4-kilometer runway and aims to accommodate 15 million passengers annually by 2030. Phase 2 will increase capacity to 30 million passengers by 2050, while Phase 3 will expand it to 45 million.
